Spring Adventure Highlights
Spring is
around the corner. Soon the days will be getting longer, the weather
will be getting warmer, and trees and flowers will be blooming.
Spring is the perfect time to start getting out there. In those
dreary winter months, it's so easy to get stuck in a rut. We're all
so busy, there are two things we need and cherish that are hard to
squeeze into our hectic schedules: a healthy lifestyle and
adventure.
Now you can multitask as CHOA offers numerous ways to get active
while having new and unique experiences. In CHOA, being active and
healthy isn't a dreaded chore but is an indulgent pleasure. Instead
of walking a treadmill like a hamster in a wheel, hike in the
mountains or stroll around Charlotte's downtown. Instead of bland
diet frozen dinners, eat a gourmet meal with friends. CHOA is the
place where being active is just an easy and natural part of your
day to day life.
If you are a member, don't forget to log in to CHOA members' area
daily. We have new adventures posted every day. If you have not
became a member, check out up coming events listed on the left
column or visit our monthly event calendar at

Spring Coed Softball League starting March
16th. Final registration at Park rd Park on Sunday, March 9th, at
1PM. This is your final chance to sign up.

Carpooling
Higher fuel
costs have begun to take a toll on many of us. Driving a long
distance to attend events has become quite costly. The best
solution is to reduce gas consumption to drive down demand. We
encourage everyone to get in touch with members who live near you
and try to carpool to CHOA events. By giving up a just a little
bit of personal convenience, you will save a lot of money, make a
lot of new friends, help to reduce traffic, and ultimately make
the world a better place.
There is a
feature on the CHOA web site that allows members to find other
members who live near them. On every RSVP list members have
identified what area of town they live in. You can
communicate with people who live in the same area via the CHOA
messaging system and arrange carpooling.
For out of
town trips such as hiking, backpacking, road trips, we recommend
the following for carpoolers: Volunteer drivers should have a full
tank of gas at the meeting location. On the way back after the
trip, the driver should stop to fill up gas before dropping
passengers off. The gas bill should be split evenly among everyone
in the car.
Until we
can find a better solution, carpooling is the most efficient way
to save gas money and to reduce traffic. Also it is easier for the
leader to have a fewer vehicles to keep track of. Many hiking
trails have limited parking spaces. Thank you for your cooperation
in this matter.
